Bicycle rider. Engineering leader. Scotch drinker. Not always in that order.
Hi, I’m Scott. I’ve spent 25 years in tech, and about a decade ago I accidentally became a manager, following the all-too-common career path of “hey, this guy writes really good code, we should put him in charge of people.” I was wholly unprepared for it. I’ve been learning and making mistakes as a leader ever since, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I started as a graphic designer in 2001, right as the dot-com bubble burst, because I’ve never been much for conventional wisdom. Quickly learned I was bad at design and good at code, and followed that thread until someone handed me a team and wished me luck. These days my work sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and go-to-market, turning ambiguous strategy into execution and building systems and teams that hold up when I’m not in the room.
What I Do
- Build and scale multi-team engineering organizations
- Turn ambiguous strategy into clear, executable plans
- Align Product, GTM, and Engineering around measurable outcomes
- Develop leaders and operating systems that scale beyond individual contributors
- Bring structure, clarity, and momentum to ambiguous environments
Selected Impact
- Scaled org from 2 to 18 engineers, adding EM, Staff, and Team Lead layers
- Delivered a key partner integration 2 months early, unlocking $300K+ in ARR
- Led a product domain generating $2M+ in net-new ARR
- Maintained 0% attrition through rapid growth, restructuring, and leadership changes
- Built execution systems that enabled predictable multi-team delivery
Selected Projects
- Condo Parking Booking App — Full-stack booking system built solo: React/Vite, Express, Postgres, Terraform on AWS Lambda, Supabase, Resend for email. Rate limiting, input sanitization, 80%+ test coverage, CI/CD via GitHub Actions. In active production use by my building. GitHub | Live Demo
- Claude Code Skills Library — A personal toolkit of Claude Code skills for meeting summaries, Jira board reviews, PR analysis, and daily journaling. Used daily in my own workflow and open-sourced for other EMs. GitHub
